Frequently asked questions

Who can use Recycle2fundraise to raise money?

Schools, colleges, playgroups, sports teams, scouts, community groups and associations, in fact any business or organisation that would like to raise funds.

How much can we sell our clothes for?

We pay by weight, 40p for every kg that we weigh. On average a bin bag full of clothes would weigh between 7-10kgs, paying between £2.80 - £4.00.

When do we receive our funds?

Immediately. Your items are weighed in the van on the day so there’s no waiting to see how much you’ve raised.

How do we receive our funds?

We can pay by cheque, donate to a chosen charity or you may want to set up an account and save your totals over a period of time. We can discuss your preference at the time of booking.

When can you collect?

We understand that all types of groups and schools meet on different dates and at different times which is why we arrange the collection to be at a date and time suitable for you.

How do we promote the collection?

We can provide you with free promotional material including leaflets and posters. Every group and school is different so we will discuss your requirements with you at the time of booking, along with some ideas to encourage involvement from all your members and make the most out of your collection.

Do you only do collections in Newcastle?

We can arrange group collections throughout the North East of England, Cumbria, The Borders and North Yorkshire.

How often can I arrange a collection?

As often as you like. We can collect as a one off or if you are fundraising on an ongoing basis we could arrange a regular pick up to save you storing the goods.

Is there a minimum or maximum volume?

There is no minimum volume, or maximum volume. We will contact you prior to collection so we have an idea of what size vehicle to send to you.

Do I need to use a specific bag?

No. By allowing you to use your own bags (we suggest bin bags) we can help the environment that little bit more. However, we do have 100% biodegradable bags available if you need them, and also use these when we action random quality checks.

What type of unwanted clothes and textiles do you take?

Everything we accept needs to be in good quality condition as it is eventually resold to another individual and therefore reused and reworn. We accept adults and children’s clothing, shoes, bags, handbags, belts, bedding covers, curtains, towels and soft toys.

We do not accept items that are worn, torn, damaged or stained. No bric-a-brac, pillows or duvets

Do you check the items?

We do not check every item, however we do check inside bags to ensure that they contain good quality reusable clothing and textiles. We reserve the right to refuse items that do not meet our quality standards.

What happens to all unwanted clothes?

The goods are exported to developing nations where there is a demand for quality used clothes and textiles. Everything we purchase eventually goes on to be resold in retail outlets, bought by individuals.

Do the clothes get used for rags?

No. We only accept good quality items. Everything we purchase goes on to have a second life, being sold as an individual item and being reused or reworn.

Where do the recycled clothes go?

Everything is exported to developing nations, primarily, although not exclusively, to Eastern Europe where there is a demand for used textiles being sold to individuals.

Are you a charity?

We are a commercial business; however we are extremely proud to support amongst others, Cash for Kids, who support thousands of disabled and disadvantaged children right across our regions.
